Oh my!!! Boys Boys Boys. First for the record a disclaimer. And this will come as no shock to anyone who knows me. But I am no body's possession. In fact If I think in any way shape or form you are trying to own me, show me off and treat me as arm candy I will indeed bolt faster then the green lantern. I was on a lovely date with Mr. Nice Guy for the races that came to town. I was already a bit apprehensive as Mr. Nice Guy and I had about as much chemistry as a failed high school experiment but I was trying. Well I say we were on a lovely date, until the green eyed jealous monster reared his ugly head. I found out later that Mr. Nice Guy spent a bulk of his time grilling one of my best guy friends as to why I wasn't having as much fun with him as I did with my friends. Yadda Yadda Yadda. The simple answer to this is Mr. Nice Guy is also Mr. Boring Not So Much Fun. However he got extremely jealous when I was talking to another young man at the bar. Now for the record the young man was 13 years younger then me and happens to be the ex of a girl that I like a whole lot. Oh no that didn't matter to Mr. Nice Guy/Not So Much Fun. Despite having brought me to the bar for the evening he had to tap me on the shoulder and make a scene. Like a child whose favorite toy had been taken away he pouted and threatened with his "I'm going home just wanted you to know". I was beyond appalled. My only response was the dumb "But I came with you" when I clearly should have opted for the " Poof be gone" and promptly hailed myself a cab. Regardless allowed this idiot to take me home as he apologized for the mistake and tried to make amends. When I made it clear I was not dropping this ridiculous behavior and clearly he was not getting to make out with me he stormed out of my house and went home. Well to be fair I was looking for a way to let Mr. Nice Guy down, and clearly Mr. Not So Nice gave me quite the easy exit. I swear if steam could have come out of my ears it would have. The first sure fire way to tick me off is to try to treat me like you own me!!! He was such a name dropper it drove me nuts. I spend time with someone because I like them not because of who they are or what they have. That is ludicrous.
On another note was the amazing time I had with friends on the boat this weekend. We had two different crews on my B and T's boat and it was an absolute blast. It reminded me just why I love living here and why I am very lucky to have such amazing friends. I met B almost 7 years ago and I am so lucky to have her as one of my best friends. She is an amazing woman and friend. And through that I have known T and he has become like the best little/big brother to me. Life is a blessing indeed and we can all thank God for the wonderful days that we live. I also got spend some time with my friend J. She is having to move through work so this weekend was bittersweet. But at one moment on Saturday she said something to me that only a bff could do, she knows me like no other, and I am going to miss the hell out of her being around the corner!!! Oh and there were some fireworks of another nature. Sometimes you never know where that spark will come from and this time it was in a most unexpected place.
I got to spend some time with my wonderful neighbors and friends. They adopted a daughter and are about to celebrate her first year of life, and their first year as parents. I am so happy for them and I can see how much they love each other and of course love their princess. In those moment's I wonder if those kind of fireworks await me. I can't say for certain. Life is short. I know this I am lucky to live the life that I do. I hope those in my life know how much they mean to me and just how much I love them. And in the end if that's the only legacy that I leave that's OK with me. Fireworks might be a good description for how I live my life. Passion, enthusiasm, a real zest for life can;t get much more out of the sky sparkly then that. Fireworks that don't just come with the 4th of July but shine bright every single day.

Variety is the Spice of Life
so I had a very interesting weekend in our lovely SRQ. I spent the first part of Friday evening with some amazing ladies who had gathered in support of our dear friend. She recently lost her father and we were gathering the way ladies to do to lend our best emotional support and share laughs and a few favorite foods. I had wonderful time with these women in all different aspects of their lives, as we shared wine and bonded over the common love for our friend.
How different these would get in just one short hour. I had previously promised a dear friend that I would come help her celebrate her birthday in style. What you might not be grasping is that I was helping her ring in the big 22. And I was partying with a gaggle of her besties. Yep a crew full of women from the ages of 21-23. I myself began to feel like the old woman out. Clearly not quite old enough to be their mother's but certainly not young enough to even qualify for big sister standing. We aren't in Kansas anymore should have been the theme to our evening. It started on the roof top bar of Ceviche. A lovely round of sangria's were being enjoyed when a real live drama filled soap opera unfolded in front of our eyes.
A young woman had been texted that her boy friend who was supposed to be home sleeping was actually out entertaining two lovely ladies. It was fireworks well before the 4th of July and the intensity of their conversation even had the bouncer on edge. We finally moved the party to Horsefeathers where my girls gone wild com padres could shake their booties on the dance floor. This was harder then one would think. First their is a bit of a questionable element as of late in this establishment, followed by a crowded eyeball to eyeball packed dance floor. ( seriously has anyone not thought of opening the old margarita Maggie's for a sizable dance floor club) I was fast to be aware that the men folk were not going to leave my beautiful drunk younguns alone and I was going to be playing the enforcer body guard role all night. After a rush on the cheesiest pick up lines of all time, we finally secured a place in the corner by the dj. Well lets just say we had to share the space with a couple who had just met on the dance floor and were practically knowing each other in the biblical way, right there on the dance floor. I gave a few well deserving pretenders the stink eye as they attempted to take advantage of my girls less then sober state of mind.
I woke up bright and early Saturday to tackle the household chores and then headed for a much needed break with my friend and her almost one year old daughter. Nothing like spending time with a best friend and an angel from heaven to put everything into perspective. I then headed out to see the move The Proposal with two of my dear friends who happen to be married to each other. The movie was cute and one particular scene had tears streaming down my face. Y'all see the movie and then I will discuss it. ( the hangover is still much funnier!!!) So then we headed out for a some social drinks.
The new bar extension of the Cafe Epicure/Jolley is incredible. The wonderful bartender Alexandro makes the best spirits around. He has infused all of his own rum and vodkas for their signature drinks. I had the Strawberry and Basil and also the Watermelon. Both were to die for. He also let us sample a few other cocktails and concoctions. My dear friends A &L helped to listen to the latest woes of my life and offer their wisdom and sage advice. In general I just enjoy their company and while they are both no longer single they have a deep respect for the life of a single in sarasota. The bar was a great atmosphere and the Insalta Tropicale was wonderful!!! And there were indeed several cute menfolk milling about. It just might have to become a regular stomping ground for a cocktail and dinner out.
We capped off the night at the Selva Grill. And there was an angel wing sighting. This time it was a young lady sitting at the edge of the bar all bedazzled. It was indeed a sign that I needed to come home and write in this little blog. At Selva we enjoyed chocolate martinis while being entertained by our long hair, feminist, conspiracy theory bartender. He served us up some cocktails and humor and even gave me some advice for my nocturnal sleep problem. While A & L were most certain he was going to offer up his number as the solution to call when I am up at all hours of the night ( you filthy dirty minded marrieds!!!) He actually gave me some herbal supplement name. While doing this we discovered he has nice hand writing and leaves big circles on his letter I just like a teenage girl. He handled our teasing with ease and only showed me his one finger a couple of times. All in all it was successful.
I did learn while at the Cafe Epicure bar that another girl I know around town has her blog as single in sarasota. She also writes for the paper so I am sure they are publishing it to a much larger audience. I just want to point out for the record that my blog was first ( yes I did indeed check her archives!!! ) Surely this isn't the most unique idea ever known to man and we both could have come up with it on our own. But since hers will probably have a bigger following I just wanted it to be known that I started this one first.
So this weekend has held a bunch of different activities for me, time spent with various groups of friends, friends in all stages of their walk of life, and of course sampling a few different adult beverages. They say variety is indeed the spice of life....

What Has Been Never Shall Be Again
OK so I have been more then a little slack updating this little blog. I would like to blame it on the lack of angel wings but clearly I can't blame it all on my tall bedazzled friend. I guess I just haven't felt very motivated to share the stories. Because let's be honest how often and how many different ways can you tell the same story. So in the past few months lots of things have happened to me in my single Sarasota city life. First let's address this horrible new thing called I am a guy and can't pick up the phone and call you. Nope I would prefer the much more ridiculous way of texting and fbooking you until you are so confused as to what's what. I seriously think that might be the new game plan for the boys...If you cant win on your own court level the playing field. It's a whole new technology game out there. I can't be sure how many relationships I have been dancing around in the last two months but let me assure my blackberry is blowing up!!! What happened to the old fashioned ways of picking up a phone and calling a girl. Saying hi how are you would you like to have dinner. Nope these new boys about town will text you and sext you and facebook you about absolutely nothing. They are flirty and fun but will never quite ask you out, and just when you think you have cut though the bs and done enough dancing they will indeed hightail it in run.. I think it's no coincidence that grown ass women are in love with a fictional vampire.. Yep You heard me right I am talking about Edward. He's centuries old and treats a woman like she should be treated. Well when he's not thinking of making her the main course!! Shows like True Blood based on the The Southern Vampire Series and the movie and books for the Twilight series are blowing up the charts. There rise in popularity is not some new fascination for the vampire and underworld. If that was the case we would have had this same craze over the Anne Rice Novels back in the day. Nope both lead vampire characters in each series are centuries old. They are old fashioned, have the ways of a gentleman and are at the heart what ever woman is looking for. Now I don't care how many dating books a girl is going to read.. from Steve Harvey's latest recycling to classic he's just not that into you.. they are only beating around the bush.. the true southern gentleman is a lost and dying breed. I started reading twilight on a whim. I did not expect to get sucked in like every other teenage girl on the planet. In fact I assumed I would find them childish like the Harry Potter books. I was so wrong. Edward is indeed the man every girl is dreaming of. And Bella is the reflection of everything a teenager girl feels deep down inside looking for some validation. OK so I am getting off point again. My point is really that texting and fbooking your new crush is less then ideal and the opposite of romantic or hot. I knew better then to get sucked into the trap. But once again that teenage girl full of optimism and all electric with a new crush fell into the trap for centuries. I forgot my worth and value and threw it all out the window for a cute words of verbiage and the hope of a happy ever after. So guys if you are reading this and I highly doubt you are.. pick up the phone. If you like her call her and don't play games with her. You may get wrapped up in the what you can get out of it game. But please remember she is someones sister, daughter and best friend. She loves, she cries, she hurts.. and she doesn't exist just for your pleasure no matter how tough you think she might be. On another note I have also had the direct opposite experience. Dates with a guy who pursues you and actually wants to be with you. What a Novelty. What was nice... the door opening, the chair pulling, actually time in public, the get better teas in my mailbox when I was sick, and the surprise flowers on my doorstep just because. I don't know what the future holds for this gentleman but I have to say that letting a girl know you appreciate her is always sexy. Can you want something so bad that will always allude you? Is it true that the minute you don't want it it will find you? And how do you stop wanting the very thing you feel you were put on this earth to be? These topics might be too difficult to tackle in the space of my funny little blog. But I am not sure we aren't destined to create our mistakes again and again until somehow we break the cycle and strike a new path. They say every relationship that closes teaches you a lesson to make the next that much stronger. I hope so. I hope at some point we can truly say what has been never shall be again. I am looking forward to a happy and promising future.

Saturdays,Cialis, Siesta, and Three Times a Charm
So I learned something new from my friend M. I am still not quite sure how the conversation started but it led to a discussion of drugs for ED.. an yes I mean that ED.. Erectile Dysfunction. M let me in on the secrets of the boys and while it didn't come as a surprise to me to find out that young healthy guys are using these meds the little saying that was shared with me was a quite a surprise. M related a story about a hot girl walking by on the beach and his guy friend beside him said " I would cialis her". Seriously for real. So I guess when guys think they have one shot with a girl they want to make it a good one and pop these little extra helpers and a guy judges a girl based on her hotness level to see if she would be good enough for one of these said pills. I now feel like I must ask these boys if I am indeed cialis worthy. Aww boys. It's so funny to hear things from their perspective. So another glorious Saturday on the beach at siesta key. I am really starting to have some fun around here and not so sure I want to move after all. I guess life really is what you make of it. Tonight we went to the chill lounge. It was a very cool party in downtown sarasota. They blocked off the streets and brought in furniture. They had a band and all kind of vendors out there. Afterwards my friends L and her hubby A went with me to Selva Grill for the most fabulous Chocolate Raspberry Martini a girl could ever want. My friends met us there and then we moved the party to Evie's. Wouldn't you know it we ran into the dentist and his friends yet again. But this time the pick up challenged friend wasn't so over served and I finally got to help him with his lines. Bless his heart. I hope he got the message and will in the future follow my advice when talking to women. I did try to meet up with sweatpants again but he was off doing other things. I have no real bad fashion advice to report because for the first time ever people all looked really really good. I think they were more dressed up around the chill lounge event. I know I put a lot of extra thought into my outfit that night. I wanted to make sure just in case it's a common thought in a boys head.. that I was indeed cialis worthy.
Feathers and Fridays
It seems this week I have forgotten that I am not a 21 year old girl anymore. Maybe it's the influx of college kids that have hit this town on the wonderful college tradition that is.Spring Break. But I have been out almost every night this week and clearly the weekend wasn't going to be any exception. I met my friend B at Horse Feathers. She had her bf T with her and some other folks and we were looking to have a fun time. Almost right away we met up with our new friend the dentist and his other dental school friends. They were in fact being stalked by a gaggle of pretty girls that I feel most certain were not 21. But I think the boys were safe that they were indeed legal. Anyway this girl stared at the dentist for most of the time we were out there talking to him. I was beginning to feel he had a stalker and the dentist blew it off. And her off. Till the end of the night. Boys Boys Boys. Y'all are so predictable and so easy. Anywoo the point of this discussion isn't to talk about the ridiculous amount of Ed Hardy and Affliction tees that I saw out. ( But I did have this conversation with the bar manager and he said one night he counted 70!!!) Freakin a 70 guys wearing the worst fashion t shirt around. Please somebody with some fashion sense come here and open up a store for me because these boys need help. But I said I wouldn't talk about that. So I am going to talk about being a good wing woman for your boys. The dentist had a little friend with him. He seemed like a very nice and sweet boy, even though he was a bit over served. But his pickup lines were the worst. He was the one guy interested in the 18 year olds that were following the dentist around like he was the pied piper. But sadly his lines and his game needed a lot of work. Now why hadn't his friends tried to help him out before. I made an attempt to help him that night but the fact that he was over served created a bit of a problem. He just couldn't seem to understand what I was telling him. I finally gave up. And the boys finally relented and hung out with their 18 year old stalkers. Sadly I think the only one who didn't get any action was the pick up line challenged friend. I did find a guy wearing Rocks at the bar. I was impressed and that doesn't happen here near enough. Turns out D hates the affliction and ed hardy tee thing as much as me and we quickly bonded over our love of fashion. Not sure where D has been hiding in this town but he admitted that he is moving back to Ohio. So sadly he will not be the one guy that might be able to give this town some much needed fashion help.
Ladies Ladies Ladies Bigger isn't always Better!
Ok so once again I made the trek to Ladies Night at the Urban Flats. I dragged my friend B along and said we needed to do some research. It's beginning to be the same old crowd and the same old thing. I saw bedazzled angel wings again. This time he was wearing an Ed Hardy shirt with lots of flashy metallic on it. I just don't understand the need for this clothing to be worn that so clearly assaults my eyes. I witnessed some girls behaving badly. And for once I don't mean showing the cookie. I mean girls being downright mean and nasty in the ladies room. Their behavior was beyond rude and if I hadn't been a good southern girl I might have felt the need to show them just how high my round kick can go. Ladies I know we all are in a hurry to use the two stalls this place has for the women folk. I realize the line is out the door. But I can assure for the most part women go in, do their business and hopefully wash their hands. There is no need for you to continue to knock on the door and then start singing a pee pee song as if the person in the bathroom is the age of 5. Further I am pretty sure that science is on my side and there has never been one instance where this knocking is getting the pee to come out any faster. Rude is something I have little patience for. I think everyone could do with a bit of manners. Especially in Sarasota. The night wasn't all bad. We met up with B's neighbor ,a very cute dentist. He was beyond adorable with his horrible dance moves. It tugged at my heart strings so I had to help him out a bit. I will say he was a very fast learner and by the end of the night he was passing for halfway decent on the dance floor. I will take the credit as the A plus teacher that I am but I am pretty sure he was just a good student. The evening though went way to late. My friend R was smart and pulled a fast getaway but I had the brilliant idea of closing the place down. That now makes two school nights out to play during this work week and is clearly two too many. I did make one interesting revelation that the SRQ is trying to rival Miami and Tampa for the amount of silicone enhancements. And I am not knocking them, heck one day I will be signing up for the mommy makeover with the best of them. But these ladies were trying to give porn stars a run for their money. They totally didn't fit their body. I just don't see how any person has the need to go bigger then a D... these ladies skipped the alphabet and went straight to the doubles. I guess one D wasn't good enough so they thought that double d's would be twice the fun. Instead it reminded me of that crass saying I have heard guys say way too many times... "tits on a stick". It just wasn't hot. So ladies if you are thinking of getting the girls up top.. try to keep them in check with your body proportions. In most cases I am a go big or go home kind of girl..... But in this case Bigger isn't always better....
St Pattys and why I should never drink on a Tuesday
So of course like many of you the annual I need to celebrate my Irish part of my mutt roots came to pass. I headed down to the Gulf Gate area to partake in what I hoped would not be green beer and drown my sorrows about the upcoming possible job lay offs. I had a fun group of locals with me and I think I had one of the most fun nights in the SRQ that I have had in sometime. We hung out in the tent area at the Irish Rovery ( I think that's the name) I finally got to see sweatpants out again. I even reconnected with an old friend. All in all it was a great night. Until the next morning. Ya see I was doing fine drinking a couple of Killian's and partaking in all the strange sights that come with grown men wearing leprechaun attire. And even women sporting green hair wigs. First I have to ask why would one need to wear a green wig on this day. Can't ya just put some green clothing on like the rest of the world and throw on a necklace and call it day. Anyway my friend J met some old man and though we accuse her quite a bit of having a daddy complex.. this one took the cake. I am pretty sure he tried to really kiss her. Silly Viagra thinking ole men can have any young girl they like!!! But I once again am off subject. Sweatpants was kind enough to come meet my friends and the like and then extend an invitation to join his friends at The Thirsty Turtle. Well shortly after our arrival sweatpants and the gang headed out to the key and Myself and my two guy friends thought it would be a good idea to switch to hard stuff. Let's just say Wednesday was a very very very long workday indeed. I have to say I was mostly impressed with how many young people were out. Maybe this town is not so old after all and I will actually admit to having some fun around here. I even might want to stay.
